Romney Cancels Appearance After Crash

By MICHAEL BARBARO

BOSTON - Mitt Romney abruptly canceled his sole campaign event on Sunday, in the swing state of Colorado, after an airplane crash at the small airport where he had been scheduled to land.

The campaign had planned to hold a 4:45 pm rally in Pueblo, Colo., at an aviation museum a short distance from the local airport.

The plane crash Sunday morning, involving a small aircraft, shut down several runways at the Pueblo Memorial Airport, according to local news reports. The police are still investigating the cause.

“We do not want to interfere with the investigation or any emergency response efforts,” said a spokesman for Mr. Romney, Rick Gorka.

Instead of heading to Colorado, Mr. Rom ney plans to travel from Boston to Los Angeles where he will give a campaign speech and attend a fundraiser on Monday.
